The goal is to understand the life cycle of severe convection and to learn to use the tools for its prediction. Phenomena like lightning, precipitation, downbursts, tornadoes, single cell storms and squall lines are treated. In lectures the students learn the theoretical background for this. Excursions during the convective season in early summer allow practising the skills in prediction and observation of convective phenomena.
