280232 VO Selected topics in stellar hydrodynamics (2009S)

This lecture provides further insight into the physics of stellar structure and oscillations. The following topics will be discussed:(1) Derivation of stellar convection models starting from the conservation equations of hydrodynamics.(2) Derivation and discussion of a stochastic excitation model for solar-like oscillations.(3) Discussion of the variational principle for adiabatic stellar oscillations and its application in asteroseismology for determining stellar ages.
