Using examples from numerical astronomy the course gives an introduction into scientific programming. The programming language of the course is Fortran which still is widely used in astrophysics. The programming will be done on a Unix (Linux) operating system. The numerical examples are taken from stellar astronomy (e.g. structure of a White dwarf) and extragalactic astronomy (e.g. interacting galaxies).
