Because of the corona pandemic, the seminar will start online. If possible, the seminar format might be changed to in-person later in the semester.

The seminar will start on March 5, 2021. The zoom invitation is provided on Moodle under "Ankündigungen".

Participation is compulsory for the first date.


Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The students first become acquainted with a specific topic in climatology by reading the relevant literature. In a second step, they analyze climate data to study this topic in more detail. The results of the literature study and the data analysis are presented in two talks.

Assessment and permitted materials

35% Presentation on scientifc literature during the first half of the semester
35% Presentation on data analysis project towards the end of the semester
30% Active participation and contribution to in-class discussions

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

All partial requirements need to be provided. The final grade is the average of the partial requirements.

The students might miss one seminar date. Further missed dates need to be accompanied with a medical certificate.

Examination topics

Literature study of selected scientific texts, quantitative data analysis including figures, 2 presentations
