Aims, contents and method of the course

*Atmospheric thermodynamics (gases and gas mixtures, ideal and real gases, gas laws, the first lay of thermodynamics, latent heat, adiabatic processes, water vapor in the air, the second law of thermodynamics).
*Atmospheric hydrodynamics (mass conservation, the continuity equation, atmospheric vertical structure, the hydrostatic equation, geopotential, static stability).

Assessment and permitted materials

Oral exam.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Introduction to the topics of atmospheric thermodynamics and hydrodynamics, providing the basic equations and fundamental physical principles that form the foundation of atmospheric dynamics.

Examination topics

Weekly lectures.
Close coordination with the TM I (PI) course.
