Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Basics of turbulence, phenomenology of the boundary layer (subdivision, diurnal cycle, etc.), Prandtl layer (Monin-Obukhov theory, TKE budget), surface energy budget, outer boundary layer (characteristic parameters, profiles), numerical schemes for closure. Possibly specific measurement techniques for the boundary layer.

Understanding of all relevant propierties and processes of the atmospheric boundary layer

Lecture, supported by hand-outs of important figures, tables, formulae
