Globular clusters are among the oldest parts in the Milky Way. Because they consist almost only out of stars, they are ideal laboratories for stellar dynamics. Moreover, due to their chemical homogeneity and the identical age of their stars
they are perfect testbeds for studying stellar populations and evolution.
