Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The lecture provides basic definitions and knowledges on hydrology as well as an overview on hydrological data, its sources and on typical tasks of hydrology. Main focus: water balances, its elements and their investigation, hydrological processes and influencing factors, generation of floods and low waters, hydrological models, hydrological forecasts and warning systems
Special focus: connections to and interaction with meteorology
If possible a 3h-excursion will be held.

Assessment and permitted materials

examination/test at the end of semester; detailed information at the beginning of the lectures

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The aim is to get a basic understanding on hydrological processes and the influencing factors in its close connection to meteorological processes.
