Information about the functionality of a weather radar, the measurement parameters and interpretation of the measurements

Assessment and permitted materials

exercises and project work in small groups with presentation

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Übungsblätter und Projektarbeit werden zu je 50% gewertet
Übungsblätter: mindestens 5 von 6 Übungsblätter müssen mit 50% der Gesamtpunktezahl für eine positive Beurteilung erreicht werden
Projektarbeit: Teilnahme an Projektarbeit mit Vortrag. Bewertung des Vortrags nach Inhalt, Befolgung der Aufgabenstellung, Beantwortung der Fragen

electromagnetic waves, technique, basics of scattering and propagation, radar equation, estimation of precipitation, Doppler radar and estimation of wind field, polarimetric radar, quantitiative estimation of precipitation and classification of hydrometeors
