Aims, contents and method of the course

The lecture introduces the dynamics of isolated and interacting galaxies. Covered topics are orbit theory, structure and stability of elliptical and disk galaxies, dynamics in galactic nuclei, the formation of bars and spirals, the collapse of stellar systems, encounters and mergers of galaxies, the evolution of satellite galaxies, relaxation processes, the longterm evolution of stellar systems as well as simulation methods.
