Aims, contents and method of the course

ECTS: 4 credit points
Presentations and discussion of recent scientific work on objective analysis of meteorological fields: 2D-variational analysis (thin-plate-spline methodology), 3D-variational analysis of scalar and vector field variables, Generation of ultra-high resolution fields by means of the finger-print technique (downscaling), 4D-variational analysis (spatial-temporal), Bayesian quality control of meteorological data by means of data self-consistency, Objective model validation. Applications in meteorology and climatology.
