- Hydrodynamics: continuity equation, momentum
equation for rotating planets, linear waves, Navier-
Stokes equation
- atmospheric thermodynamics

- interaction of radiation and matter
- radiative transfer
- radiation processes

Assessment and permitted materials

Lecture:
- written exam on meteorology (03.05.)
- written exam on astrophysics (28.06.)

Exercise:
- regular attendance
- regular submission of homework
- presenting and explaining the solutions to two
different questions in front of the exercise group

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Final grade is given by:
- 30% Exam grade meteorology
- 30% Exam grade astrophysics
- 40% performance during exercises

Grading key:
100% - 91%: Very good
90% - 78%: Good
77% - 61%: Satisfactory
60% - 50%: Pass
<50%: Fail

Exercise performance is given by:
- Attendance:
1 point per week x 12 weeks = 12 points
- homework submitted on time:
0.5 points per task x 4 tasks per week x
12 weeks = 24 points
- Presentation of homework:
2 points per presentation x 2 presentations
= 4 points
- Grading:
0 points: Problem was addressed but not
understood
1 point: Problem solved with major mistakes
2 points: Problem solved with minor mistakes
-2 Punkte: Problem not understood and solution
taken from somewhere else (cheated)
