Applied magnetics is one of the fastest and less expensive exploration methods in applied geophysics. It offers a broad spectrum of possible applications: from the exploration of regional structures to the investigation of spatially restricted anomalies. The goal of the lecture is to give an overview of the causes of magnetic anomalies, the measuring instruments and their possible applications, the planning of geomagnetic campaigns as well as the evaluation of the measured geomagnetic anomalies.
