Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Theory of observation methods and description of observation campaigns (space missions and ground-based telescopes). The aim of the course is also to get observations of transits (observational practice). Students will learn the software, tools, and techniques for the photometry of exoplanets and variable stars and their differences. Introduction and classification of extrasolar planetary systems and the possible habitability of Earth-like planets. Further topics are planetology and the classification of life as well as exotic and extreme life.

Theory: exercises and 2 tests (50 points)
Exercise part: Data evaluation and protocols (50 points)

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Each student shall give a 30 min presentation and be present in at least 50% of the lecture events.
