Assessment and permitted materials
For the final mark, the quality of the presentation and handouts, as well as the continuous participation in the discussions will be considered.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
(a) Required attendance: at least 80%
If (a) is fulfilled, the final mark will be calculated from
(b) the quality of the presentation and handout (66%)
(c) active participation in the discussions (34%)

Each student will prepare a presentation including handouts related to current hot topics in cosmology, e.g.
- cosmological simulations
- machine learning techniques applied to problems in cosmology/astrophysics
- the cosmic microwave background
- gravitational waves as a cosmological probe
- weak gravitational lensing
- baryon acoustic oscillations and galaxy clustering
- the H0 tension and the distance ladder
- reionization of the Universe and the first galaxies
- cosmic inflation and how we can probe it
- dark matter candidates and astrophysical constraints
- dark energy and modified gravity
- current tensions and challenges to the LCDM standard model
Literature suggestions will be provided for any of the topics. Topics will be decided following the first meeting. Following each presentation, we will discuss the topic that we learned about together.
