Aims, contents and method of the course

Der Data Scientist wurde vom Harvard Business Review zum Sexiest job of the 21st century gekürt. Da rund 80% aller Businessdaten einen Raumbezug aufweisen, ist von einem verstärkten Bedarf nach Spatial Data Scientists auszugehen. Dies sind Analytiker, die die räumliche Komponente in der Problemerkennung über die Analyse zur Visualisierung entsprechend berücksichtigen und damit Mehrwerte in der Prozessoptimierung erzielen.

Diese Lehrveranstaltung dient den Studierenden ihre Berufsmöglichkeiten zu erweitern und ist interdisziplinär (Geographie, Statistik, Mathematik, Computer Science) angesiedelt.

In der Lehrveranstaltung werden einführende und fortgeschrittene Methoden der Spatial Data Science vorgestellt und praktisch angewandt. Neben der Vermittlung der theoretischen Grundlagen wird sowohl mit kommerzieller Software (ArcGIS Pro) sowie Open Source Software (Jupyter Notebooks, Python) und deren Funktionalitäten gearbeitet.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Interesse an der quantitativen Datenanalyse. Gerne laden wir auch Studierende außerhalb der Geoinformation zur Teilnahme ein.

• Laufende aktive Mitarbeit (10%)
• Assignments (45%)
• Wissensüberprüfung (45%)

Ein positiver Abschluss ist ab einer Gesamtbewertung von 51% gegeben.
