Aims, contents and method of the course
Participants experience by practical engangement a broad range of Physical Geography topics of southern Brazil along a gradient from the humid subtropics to tropics. Theoretical knowledge in Physical Geography will be applied and elaborated further via in-field examples.Contents/topics (all with a regional focus on the subtropics and tropics of southern Brazil): physiogeographical basics, hydrogeomorphology (incl. flood hazards), coastal geomorphology (incl. aeolian), landslides, hillslope and soil geomorphology, natural hazards and society, (post-)mining environments, land use and land cover, natural resources, protected areas, basics of population, tourism and econimic geographyMethods: Excursion, handout preparation, field work (mapping), protocol, multi-media
