Aims, contents and method of the course

Preparatory seminar for a bachelor or master thesis in economic geography. Thematic focus is on the analytical concept of global production networks.

Assessment and permitted materials

Assessment is based on active participation in classes, quantity and quality of weekly tasks, final seminar paper and oral presentation.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

In the seminar basic steps in the process of writing a scientific paper will be practiced: (1) critical text reading, (2) specification of research themes, (3) development of research questions, (4) exposé writing, (5) paper structuring, (6) scientific text writing, (7) presentation of results.

Examination topics

Joint reading of basic literature, short text writing exercises, mutual reading of texts, work in small groups, large group moderation, individual supervision, Pecha Kucha presentations.

Grundlegende Texte sowie eine ausführliche Literaturliste zum Rahmenthema werden zur Verfügung gestellt.
