Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The lecture will discuss how processes of socioeconomic transformation operating at different spatial scales impact on the structures of gendered divisions of labour and their geography. The following topics will be adressed: gender in international migration, the gender of globalisation, gender regimes in Europe, gender politics in multi-governance models, regional structures and dynamics of gender inequality in employment in Austria, regional development targeted on gender equality, spatial planning and gender, gendered divisions of labour and corporality.
The lecture is open to interested students of all study programmes.

Assessment and permitted materials

Final exam in groups of 4-6 persons

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Main targets are the examination of different epistemological and methodological concepts to grasp gender, work/labour and divisions of labour, the mediation of different theories advanced to understand and explain gendered divisions of labour, and the dicussion of the importance of spatial structures and spatialized processes in the shaping of gendered divisions of labour.
