Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Natural hazards and natural risks are one research focus of the Faculty of Earth Sciences, Geography and Astronomy. The Faculty contributs to one aspect of risk research by research and lecturing the topic of natural hazards and natural risks. Problems due to natural hazards and natural risk cannot be solved by one scientific discipline only, cooperation and team-work of different disciplins is indispensible.
The meaning of the term risk depends on the context of the different foci, therefore diverse scientific fields deal with hazards, risk, vulnerability, security and uncertainty. The lecture series allows interested parties to gain insights of the diversity and the different foci on risk research. The presentations will provide a better mutual understanding and consequently, will facilitate inter- and transdisciplinary cooperation to develop new stratigies in natural hazards and natural risk management.
