The goal of the lecture is to enable the students to use common tools for the visualisation of geographic data. The techniques and methods for map creation are shown with a vector graphic software:
Introduction to common tools in cartography, symbolisation, layer concept, colour definition, styles, fonts, digitising of map examples, integration of hillshading, debriefing of the practical exercises
After attending the lecture every student should be able to produce high quality maps in a cartographic correct manner and know the technical possibilities of reproduction.
