Besides getting to know existing software packages, there will be an emphasis on the automatization of work flows and the development of simple model applications by means of programming.

Assessment and permitted materials

- Mid-term exam regarding the general understanding of the possibilities and limitations of modelling (35%)
- Independent solution of two defined tasks in the concluding lesson (65%)

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

At the end of the course, the students shall
- be able to critically evaluate model results;
- be able to apply computer models in an independent and responsible way;
- know the most important software packages for modelling of mass movements and their scope of application;
