Aims, contents and method of the course

The lessons are aimed at students that have attended "Angewandte Geoinformation" (applied geoinformation). The students will learn and partly develop on their own the necessary basics to be able to build models in GIS. In the introduction phase of the lessons the basics of model building in GIS, GIS data models and modeling tools will be covered.
One focal point will be working with raster data and raster analysis, where on the one hand the spatial analysis and modeling of surfaces is emphasized on the other hand there will be also a focus on errors, error propagation and uncertainty.
The second focal point is on network models and the analysis of networks.
All theoretical taught basics will be implemented as examples. In the last lessons the students will use the learned methods in combination to work on their self defined projects.
