Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The aim of this course is to provide and introduction to the identification, calculation and mitigation of flooding hazard and risk. A one day field trip by bicycle of the Donauinsel will be used to as the backdrop for discussion on flooding hazard and risk. Students are required to provide their own bicycle, lunch and snacks.

Assessment and permitted materials

A one page report on the history of the Donauinsel is required to be submitted one week before the field trip. This report accounts for 10% of the final grade

A summary field trip report will account for the remaining 90%

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

- Submission of pre-field trip report
- Attendance and participation on the day of the field trip
- Submission of summary field trip report

Examination topics

A basic understanding of how to identify, calculate and mitigate flooding hazard and risk.
