Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
In this exercise students will be confronted with instruments of planning on the local and regional level. Basic instruments of spatial planning (like zoning, regional development concepts etc.) will be discussed as well as newer and "softer" instruments (like inter-communal cooperation, inner urban development etc.).
Assessment and permitted materials
The marking will be derived from active participation, home exercises, simulation game and field work including presentation and final report.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The main objective is to give a detailed insight into local and regional planning in Austria and that the students are empowered to assess and interpret the different instruments of planning. Additionally the students obtain a deeper understanding of individual interests influencing the planning process.
Examination topics
Regular attendance of the course is obligatory. The active participation also from the side of the students is required. During the semester, the students will accomplish some small home exercises and field work as well as taking part in a simulation game. Besides inputs of the lecturer, the main attention in this course will be given to co-operative learning.
