Aims, contents and method of the course

"Place identity" refers to a phenomenon which may be traced throughout human history and in all cultures, namely to man's personal and emotional attachment to specific places or areas. This phenomenon is also called "Heimat" attachment or place attachment. Place identity has also something to do with the images of places, regions and nations and plays a significant role in any kind of regional and local marketing activities. This course focuses on: describing the diverse manifestations of place identity, analysing its conditions of development and discussing opportunities of its "utilisation" in local and regional development.
