Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

In this project seminar urban development is understood in a double meaning: at first as real development of the urban fabric, secondly as field of action in urban planning and policy. In working groups we will examine selected topics both theoretically and empirically. Suggested themes are for example: urban renewal, large housing estates, public transport, social segregation and gentrification, the ‘creative class’ and its urban districts, migration and integration, paradigm shift of urban planning, metropolitan development. An integrated part of the Seminar is an excursion to Berlin in October, 22 to 26. All participants of the Seminar are expected to attend the excursion.

Assessment and permitted materials

The appraisal of the seminar consist of a presentation, a written assignment as well as active attainment of the course.
