Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course, positioned at the beginning of the Master's program, aims to provide students with perspectives and innovative formats to recognize, understand, and evaluate various dimensions of global change and sustainability in research and practice. It is designed to develop ownership in their studies and offers numerous interactive course elements.
Participants will be empowered to develop strategies and competencies for the independent elaboration of current geographical challenges, to understand controversial positions, and to discuss scientific findings and results; as well as to present these.
During the course, students will develop their own 'Personal Intellectual Project' (PIP), which they will independently pursue throughout their Master's studies. This PIP should be in the field of global change and sustainability, encouraging students to enhance and foster their curiosity, ambition, and desire to contribute.
Furthermore, the course focuses on strengthening so-called 21st Century Skills: creativity, communication ability, collaboration. Through interactive formats, students will independently work on topics and formats – both individually and in groups – facilitated by the lecturer.

Assessment and permitted materials

The assessment of the course includes active participation in the course (49%) and the elaboration of an own intellectual project (51%).
