Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

1. Introduction and work in ArcGIS Online (create a web map, assignments of rights)
2. Data preparation for the web (analyzing GIS resources)
3. Work with various types of services (map services, feature services, image services, geoprocessing services)
4. Introduction to the ArcGIS Server Manager (service management, service security)
5. Work with configurable web application to create customized GIS web mapping application
6. Create an Esri Story map

After finishing this class, students will be able to publish various types of GIS resoruces with the ArcGIS Server and administer them in ArcGIS Server Manager. The students will learn how to optimize the data depending on its use as well as the right choice for web applications. In a project, the students will prepare a web map using a topic of their choice by applying the techniques and methods learned in this class.

Assessment and permitted materials

Teamwork through group final project, personal contribution of the students (theory examination, project work, active cooperation).

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Basic skills: ArcGIS Desktop (ArcGIS Pro)

evaluation criteria:
20% Continuous participation (attendance, theory check, sub tasks)
30% theory exam on the computer
50% Project work (incl. presentation)

A positive graduation is given from an overall rating of more than 50%.
