In the case of illnesses, which are proven with a medical certificate, or in the case of other justified absences, absences in excess of this can be compensated for by additional written assignments.The presentation of the group development and presentation of research designs and the written preparation of a research report each count for 50 percent of the grade. Both partial performances must be passed independently of each other for a positive final assessment. The performances are passed if they have been assessed with a grade of at least 4.
Grading key:
100 - 86 % - Grade 1
85 - 71 % - Grade 2
70 - 56 % - Grade 3
55 - 41 % - Grade 4

Therefore, the aims of the project seminar are that after successful completion of the course, the participants:
- have an overview of research paradigms and related methods of data collection and analysis;
- know different basic types of research designs and their use cases;
- Know and have applied strategies and approaches to develop a research design starting from a topic;
- know a number of quality criteria in order to be able to assess the quality of a (own or other) research design;
- are able to successfully develop and implement research designs for their own research projects after jointly developing and critically reflecting on several research designs;
- successfully apply selected methods, which they have tried out in the project seminar, in their own studies.The project seminar will be based primarily on case study-related and action-based learning, i.e. the participants will work on problems in groups, develop smaller research projects and apply selected qualitative methods for data collection and analysis in these projects.Note: it is strongly recommended that participants also take the UE "290064-1 UE Key Methods in Analysing Migration and Population Dynamics (2022S)" or have prior knowledge of qualitative research techniques and design.
