Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

In this exercise students will be confronted with instruments of planning on the local, supra-local and - as far as Austrian issues are touched - also on the European level. Basic instruments of spatial planning (zoning, federal development concepts) plus newer tools of steering (intercommunal planning, functional regions) are part of the course.

Assessment and permitted materials

The marking will be derived from active participation, home exercises and field work including presentation and final discussion.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The main objective is to give a detailed insight into local and supra-local planning in Austria and to empower the students to assess and interpret the different instruments of planning.

Examination topics

Regular attendance of the course is obligatory. The active participation also from the side of the students is required. During the semester, the students will accomplish some small home exercises and field work. Besides inputs of the lecturer, the main attention in this course will be given to co-operative learning.
