Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Students learn about European spatial planning and the European Union policies that affect spatial development. They gain knowledge about the role of the EU for urban and regional planning in the member states and analyse and compare various European planning systems. Knowledge is obtained through lectures, group work and discussions.
Assessment and permitted materials
Students are assessed based on an oral presentation, a written report and active participation in the course.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Grades are based on the oral presentation (40%), the written report (40%) and active participation (20%).
Examination topics
Students will analyse and compare planning systems and projects in small groups (2-3 students). The findings will be presented to the class and a written report responding to a given task shall be submitted at the end of the course. Topics will be co-created and assigned during the first weeks of the course.
