Aims, contents and method of the course

This seminar aims at discussing fundamental building blocks of a new “real world economics”. To be a new economics of and for “the real world”, it has to abandon worthless mainstream theories. And it has to be built on macroeconomic analysis, which is empirically and historically substantiated. The specific issues which will be dealt with in this seminar are being determined by the content of the presentations which the participants have to prepare.

The method of the seminar is that every student has to prepare and present a speech of about half an hour, which will be followed by discussions.

Assessment and permitted materials

The seminar is "prüfungsimmanent", which means that the presentations, the written version of presentations and contributions to the discussions form the basis for evaluation and the mark.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Presence at the seminar according the rules for "prüfungsimmanente" courses.
Marking: presentation (including powerpoint-file) and written version of the presentation: 80%; contributions to the seminar discussions: 20%
