Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Anthropogenic climate change and depletion of natural resources are calling for fundamental societal transformation processes in fields such as energy, mobility and health. Cities are playing a key role in this context: more than 50 per cent of the world’s population lives in urban areas. Cities are particularly affected by the challenges and consequences of system transformations. At the same time, they are key actors in shaping transition processes. The Ringvorlesung “Urban Transitions” provides weekly lectures by leading international and local experts to discuss both the theoretical foundations and concrete dimensions of urban transitions in areas such as energy, mobility, health, policy and planning.
