Aims, contents and method of the course

The city region of Vienna is growing in size of population. Not only the city itself but also the surrounding areas are targets for new residents. Together with students from the University of Utrecht this fieldtrip will lead us to places of city development in Vienna (Seestadt Aspern, Donaustadt) as well as suburban municipalities (Brunn am Gebirge, Vösendorf, Maria Enzersdorf, Oberwaltersdorf). How did municipalities change in the last decades due to a growing population size? Which stakeholders are involved in the process of growth? How did living preferences change over time? What challenges are occurring due to growing population sizes? Together with students from Utrecht these questions will be discussed as well as compared to the situation in the Netherlands.
