Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

After completing the course, students should be able to apply the theoretical basic knowledge of the lecture in practice. They should be able to apply simple processing, analysis and layout functions using GIS software. This essentially includes the integration of statistical data and their connection with geometry, as well as the cartographic visualisation of the result in the form of area and figure cartograms.

1. desktop GIS - basics
2. researching freely accessible (geo)data
3. data types and reading them in
4. define reference system
5. load, link and export tables
6. edit, add and calculate attributes
7. legend styles and classification methods
8. data aggregation applying summarize and dissolve function
