Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

In the course important preconditions (What is research? How to plan research? How to measure?), main steps and main methods of empirical research in social sciences are discussed. Intensive reference will be made to geographical examples. Special emphasis is given to the method of interviewing and to questionnaires.
To stimulate active involvement with the course content, students are assisted to carry out some of the steps and methods with regard to a small joint research project. Credits may be earned during the semester with preparatory readings as well as with research activities.
