Themeparks and Leisure Parks as a Major Trend of the Global Tourism Industry

Themeparks and leisure parks are one of the major trends of the global tourism industry. Perfectly and strategic designed settings and virtual worlds attract some hundreds of million visitors worldwide and contribute to the economic effects of themeparks as one of the fastest growing sectors of international tourismus. However, themeparks are more often criticised for their lack of authenticity. From an economic point of view, it seems that after years of rapid growth the industry has now entered into a phase of beginning stagnation. The course will focus on the great variety of projects and will ask for the indicators of success as well as for social trends enhancing the industry. Furthermore, different aspects of strategic planning will be discussed, following common steps of realisation. Taking practical examples, an introduction into strategic marketing should be given as well.
