Aims, contents and method of the course

Regional Development in the Indian Himalaya Region, Patterns of Change in Economy and Society, Demographical Structure and Change, Social and Political Institutions.
- Institutional approaches to stimulate development in the region
- Mountain ecosystems and sustainable regional development, conservation and preservation of landscapes
- Regional development strategies balancing the delicate social structures and social change in mountain regions in the Himalaya
- Livelihoods of rural communities, and regional economy

Places to Visit:
Cities and towns the state of HIMACHAL PRADESH (a mountain state of India):
- Delhi,
- Chandigarh (focus on modernism and urban planning),
- Dharamsala,
- Kulu,
- Manali.

Possible dates for the excursion, and duration:
September 15. to September 25. 2010, 10 days
