Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Are socio-spatial analyses a tool to understand the city as a living space of various people? These analyses follow either a city approach or a city quarter approach.
On the example of Reinprechtsdorferstraße, a local shopping street of the Margareten district in Vienna, students get introduced to the city quater approach. During the last years, especially the city quarter socio-spatial analyses are carried out in interdisciplinary teams, working with a broad mix of methods and triangulative analysis.
This seminar offers an overview on the subject, introduces various methods and discusses the interrelations of socio-spatial analysis, participation and planning processes. In addition, guest speakers will share their experiences of current practice.
