Aims, contents and method of the course
The course shall allow its participants to get to know Open Source software in the field of GIS. On the other hand Open Data initiatives will be presented and explored. Based on this we will be performing a complete workflow from the data source to the publication of simple web application during the duration of the course.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
At the end of the course participants should:
-understand the concepts of Open Source and Open Data
-know about Open source alternatives to commercial products and be able to use them
-work with Open Data and publish processed data
-be able to perform a complete workflow from the data source to the publication on the Web exclusively using Open Source software and Open Data

Examination topics
Continuous assessment of course work: In person course (in exceptional cases hybrid). Step-by-step an Open Data project will be set up and a simple web application will created to visualize the results.The final test will consist of the theoretical foundations that will be taught during the course, on the other hand practical assignments will have to be carried out (using the lab's computers), based on the exercises carried out during the course .The exam's date will be determined during the semester in negotiation with the participants.
