Aims, contents and method of the course

The excursion is on Friday 24 April 2015 held. The excursion route leads through the Lower Austrian Industrial District, an old industrial area in the southeast of Lower Austria. First, some traditional old industrial sites are visited in the middle section oft he southern Vienna Basin, then the Technopole and innovation node Wiener Neustadt and finally two industrial heavily influenced Alpine valleys (Triesting-, Piestingtal). The emergence and development of different economic spatial structures and their current transformation ist to be presented. In this context, the important role of regional policy interventions is presented in detail.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Getting to know the structures and processes of transformation in an old industrial space, discussion of regional policy strategies and measures.

Examination topics

Expert lectures along the route, discussions.
