Aims, contents and method of the course

Introductory Course: Basic Statistical Data Analysis I, group C

The aim of this course is to convey basic statistical methods to students of Geography, Cartography, and Regional Planning. Focus is placed on the processing of regional-scientifical questions with the program-package SPSS. The theoretical basics of statistics are conveyed in a lecture that is given seperately in parallel to this exercise course that focuses on practical problem-solving situations. In addition to the exercises, participants of this course will learn how to answer tasks autonomously which requires independent competence in solving statistical questions. After finishing this course the students should be able to identify and develop methodical concepts for solving simple statistical questions and interpret results using regional-statistical analyses.
