Aims, contents and method of the course

The main focus of the excursion is on the geomorphological evolution, the respective landforms and the past and present process interactions of the various landscapes of Southwest Germany.
Especially the human impact on the natural environment and their consequences will be addressed. In this context the topic of natural hazards and risks (mainly floods and landslides) will be intensively discussed.
The planned route goes from the Upper Rhine Valley, via the Black Forest, to the Lake Constance region, and from there via the Swabian Alb to the Nördlinger Ries.
Precondition: Participation in the preparitory Proseminar "Southwest Germany".
