Aims, contents and method of the course

Geological and geomorphologic structures and their development of Vienna Woods, foothills of the Alps and Granite and Gneiss Highlands.

Soils in this regions and their value.

Climatic specification.

Human use and settlements due to the physical setting

Assessment and permitted materials

The test will be in form of a written text (excursion protocol) which should show the main important topics in text well illustrated.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The beginning student of Geography will be confronted with the great variety of the physical

geographic elements and their influence on the human use of an area.

Examination topics

The excursion will be by bus and includes some wals to to see soil exposures, points of view and quarries. Illustrations by maps and handouts are provided.

Erforderlich sind Landkarten des Exkursionsgebietes die mitzuführen sind Exkursionsgebiete die abzudecken sind: Wiener Wald, Alpenvorland bis St.Pölten, östliche Böhmische Masse, westl.Weinviertel .

It is important to carry maps of the area from Vienna, alpine foothills till St.Pölten, eastern Grante and Gneiss Highlands and western Weinviertel.
