Aims, contents and method of the course
This preparatory proseminar is compulsory for participants of the excursion "Thailand/Lao PDR/Cambodia: - Socioeconomic, Environmental and Political Transformations in the Greater Mekong Subregion";. Students will be familiarized with some key aspects of the region and subsequently explore topics that relate to the socio-economic and political transformations that are underway in contemporary Southeast Asia.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
This course is designed to help participants develop both a theoretical understanding and practical skills to analyze complex socio-economic and political issues in an international research context. They will gather relevant information about a research area, formulate their own research questions and come up with a research plan that will guide their field work as they are in Southeast Asia.
