Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The excursion to the Lesachtal, a small peripheral region in Carinthia, will ask for the strategy of endogenous regional development: the use of regional and local resources, the promotion of traditional regional culture and regional identity. We will visit selected projects and initiatives and will investigate the results and outcomes to be observed after a period of thirty years of endogenous regional development.

Assessment and permitted materials

- Assessment of active participation
- Grades will be given for active participation, paper / poster, and it's presentation

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

- Learn about strategies of "Endogenous Regional Development"
- Aquire knowledge in topics and fields of the development of peripheral regions
- Get skills in theories and methods analyzing and assesssing projects and initiatives of regional development

Examination topics

- Inputs: Lecturer, various regional and local experts
- Active partizipation of students, research, talks and discussions with project's acitivists, short field studies
- Work in groups on a paper / poster
