Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
After a short survey of national and international population developments basic demographic concepts and measures are introduced. These concepts will be dicussed for cohort and period measures. Demographic concepts like the Leslie matrix and life tables will be introduced and various projection techniques will be discussed. The lecture concludes with a survey of population models that explicitely take into account the age structure of populations.
