Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Aims:
- Consolidated knowledge relating to the nature and purposes of business administration for students that have already become acquainted with the basic economic terminology and intensive discussion of particular business topics to prepare the participants for teaching business administration according to the curriculum of the Austrian "AHS"
- An adequate understanding of the basic approaches and key concepts of business administration as well as a study of realistic business situations to reinforce the student's ability to analyse information and to develop expertise and methodical competence in core economic fields

Contents:
- Business administration: subject and historical retrospect
- The basic business functions
- Fundamentals of accounting
- Legal framework
- Principles of management
- Practical case studies

Method:
Lecture; participation however is desired

Assessment and permitted materials

Final exam 90 min. in the last unit. In the case of numerous participants a second examination date could be necessary - more informations in the course.
Permitted materials for the final exam: pen and non-programmable calculator

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Participating in the course is strongly recommended, as the final exam will primarily be focused on practical relevance, understanding and calculation.
Assessment criteria for the final exam: See schedule in German language part, you can reach max. 90 points.

Examination topics

At the final exam you will be faced with a company specified by its products and its legal form to which you will apply your acquired knowledge (esp. marketing, organisation, law and accounting). Moreover you will find general business topics (see above: contents of the course) and a choice about specific economic issues (you have to choose one of three predefined topics, 10 points).
