Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This lecture aims at
• defining the business terminology
• revealing complex business coherences
• discussing relations and differences between economics and business
• confronting students with business perspectives
• providing future teachers a basis of business
• offering the foundation for the subsequent seminar
The lecture reflects the framework in which profit and non-profit organisations work. It focusses on the core topics of management, marketing and innovation, production and logistics, finance and accounting as well as the relation among these issues. Students are invited to actively participate and interact. Theory is explained by an invented example.

Assessment and permitted materials

In addition to the recommended literature, learning materials are made available online in moodle.
Due to the nature of the lecture, there is a final exam at the end of the semester as well as at the beginning, middle and end of the following semester.
The content is checked using MC questions. Each MC question scores a point if it is answered completely correctly (no partial points, no negative points). A non-programmable pocket calculator and, if necessary, a simple, non-economic dictionary between German and other languages are permitted.

Depending on the currently valid Corona regulations, the exams take place online or in the lecture hall.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

1 question = 1 point. 50% of all points are necessary to be positive, 50% 62% for (4), 63% 74% for (3), 75% 87% for (2) and 88% 100% for (1).

Examination topics

The examination material comprises the entire material of the lecture, the slides and the specified literature.
